The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has officially launched its Nationwide Youth Empowerment Programme (NYEP), a comprehensive initiative designed to equip young Nigerians between the ages of 18 and 35 with practical skills for economic independence.
The programme, which was inaugurated at a colourful ceremony in Lagos, will provide free training in digital skills, entrepreneurship, agriculture, and vocational trades across all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.
Speaking at the launch, the SDP National Secretary highlighted that Nigeria's youth bulge represents both a challenge and an opportunity. "Over 60% of our population is under 35. If we fail to invest in their future, we fail as a nation. The SDP believes in action, not just promises," he said.
The first phase of the programme targets 10,000 young Nigerians across 774 local government areas, with plans to scale up to 100,000 beneficiaries by the end of 2026.
Registration for the programme is now open through the SDP state offices nationwide. Participants will receive training materials, mentorship from industry professionals, and seed funding for the most promising business plans.
